Nearly 25,000 Lost Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Storms
Approximately twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms passed over the region, bringing wind gusts reaching 109 kilometers per hour.
Substantial Frozen Precipitation and Broad Impact
Locals observed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in particular locations. Meteorological experts confirmed that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews activated to address the widespread outages.
Victorian Storm Challenges
Simultaneously, around 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also experienced power outages after the capital city experienced its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
Emergency response teams received over five hundred requests for assistance across the state, mainly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

- Hoppers Crossing - various assistance requests
- Wyndham area - 179 calls for assistance
At one point on the previous day, over 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Moist weather were forecast to persist along large portions of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coast.
Tomorrow was forecast to be the wettest day, with continued storm activity expected across different parts of both regions.
Safety Concern
Health officials alerted that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This warning comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to major medical consequences in the state.
